Luther Night
We couldn't celebrate on Reformation Weekend because of an untimely snowfall, so we'll try again on Saturday, February 18th, the official commemorative of Dr. Martin Luther (Luther died on this date in 1546). A German-inspired pot-luck will commence at 6 PM, and at 7 PM we'll have a viewing of the 2003 MGM feature film, Luther. Come on out and learn more about how our tradition got its start. A sing-up sheet is on the bulletin board.

Prayer Ministry
During the month of February, we will be praying for Prince of Peace as part of our on-going prayer ministry. In mid-February, Prince of Peace will take on the lease of 6015 Colgate St., if they are confident that they have raised enough money to go forward with Welcome Home. Welcome Home is transitional housing for refugees. The plan is for the experienced volunteers at Prince of Peace to help the international families get over the difficult first four weeks in this country. Then another host congregation will walk with the family afterwards (when the sailing should be smoother). They also know the families better before permanently placing them somewhere in Philadelphia. Please pray for Prince of Peace as they prepare to move forward with Welcome Home.

Book Group Discussion
Our next book club meeting will be on Thursday, February 23rd at 7:30 at the home of Carolyn Edwards. This month, we are reading A Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult. This book asks the questions 'Can we save ourselves, or do we rely on others to do it? Is what we believe always the truth?'
One moment June Nealon was happily looking forward to years full of laughter and adventure with her family, and the next, she was staring into a future that was as empty as her heart. Now her life is a waiting game. Waiting for time to heal her wounds, waiting for justice. In short, waiting for a miracle to happen.
For Shay Bourne, life holds no more surprises. The world has given him nothing, and he has nothing to offer the world. In a heartbeat, though, something happens that changes everything for him. Now, he has one last chance for salvation, and it lies with June's eleven-year-old daughter, Claire. But between Shay and Claire stretches an ocean of bitter regrets, past crimes, and the rage of a mother who has lost her child. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!
