Upcoming Events

Sunday, November 6 – All Saints Sunday. We will be remembering our loved ones who have died since last November 1st. Faith’s Memory Book will be in the narthex starting September 25th. Please write the name of anyone you’ve lost during the past year. They will be remembered during the Prayers of Intercession on November 6th. ALSO: Daylight Savings Time ends that Sunday, so please remember to “fall back.”

Sunday, November 20 – Harvest Home Sunday. We will gather and bless non-perishable food items for Feast of Justice. Thanksgiving-style foods--stuffing mix, instant mashed potatoes, canned veggies--will certainly be appreciated.

Tuesday, November 22 – Thanksgiving Service at 7:00 PM.

Sunday, November 27 - First Sunday in Advent. We begin collecting gifts for the children of Martin Luther-Silver Springs.

Feast of Justice

Wayne Radlach reports that another dozen pounds of fresh produce have just been delivered to Feast of Justice courtesy of Faith’s organic garden. We’re having an excellent year growing food for the needy, but non-perishable foods and personal care items are still needed. Please remember Feast as we approach Thanksgiving. Harvest Home Sunday will be Sunday, November 20th (Feast of Christ the King). We will take a collection and bless the food brought forward on that Sunday. Thanksgiving-style foods like stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, and canned vegetables will certainly be appreciated. Of course, you can donate food or care items at any time by placing them in the shopping cart in the church hallway.

Congratulations, Carolyn

Kudos to our own Carolyn Edwards who rode her bicycle 70 miles in the annual MS Society City to Shore Bike Ride. Carolyn raised $2,300 for the MS Society to fight multiple sclerosis. Many thanks to all the folks from Faith who sponsored Carolyn on this grueling trek. The ride was held September 25th and stretched from Cherry Hill, NJ to Ocean City. If you are doing any kind of sponsored charity event, please let Pastor know so he can announce it and get the congregation’s support for your efforts.

If you're uncomfortable attending indoor worship during the COVID-19 pandemic, we still hope you'll continue to be involved with Faith Lutheran Church. We'll be livestreaming Sunday morning worship at 10 AM on the Faith Luther Facebook page. You can also read the texts of Pastor's sermons by clicking on the "Pastor's Blog" tab on the toolbar. Please remember, too that you can make online donations by clicking on the "GIVE!" button above.

Pentecost 16

Gospel Lesson: Luke 17: 5-10

5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” 6 The Lord replied, “If you had faith the size of a[a] mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

7 “Who among you would say to your slave who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, ‘Come here at once and take your place at the table’? 8 Would you not rather say to him, ‘Prepare supper for me; put on your apron and serve me while I eat and drink; later you may eat and drink’? 9 Do you thank the slave for doing what was commanded? 10 So you also, when you have done all that you were ordered to do, say, ‘We are worthless slaves; we have done only what we ought to have done!’ ”
